SIMONE’S HAPPY HEMPSEED SPLODGES

IMG_7059

nomnom.. today I did something really nice: I baked with my dear friend Simone and I just had to share her delicious recipe with you. as I am a vegetarian I often ask myself if I get enough proteins thru my daily food. Simone is a chef and she knows a lot about food and nutrition and she told me that by eating a couple of those delicious HEMPSEED SPLUDGES I make sure to cover my daily protein dose. a couple of days ago she brought me a jar of her yummie home made spludges and thats when I knew that I wanna find out about how to make those myself, and of course I had to include all of you because sharing is caring, right?

IMG_6895

shoppinglist

250 g OATMEAL
40 g FLAX SEED
40 g SUNFLOWER SEED
40 g HEMPSEED (peeled)
40 g APRICOT (dried)
3 Tablespoon HONEY
3 egg white

IMG_6949

step one: MIX the oatmeal, the seeds and the apricots in a big bowl. step two: ADD the egg white and honey. step three: HEAT the oven 120 °C (convection oven) step four: SCOOP tiny splodges to a baking paper on a baking tray. step five: WAIT 25 minutes and let them cool before you touch them – otherwise they might break..

IMG_6952

that was a very easy recipe, right? I am eating one of the spludges right now and it is just delicious. mmmhhmmm.. NOTE in case you want to make a vegan version then you can use vegan egg white  instead of the egg white and use stevia instead of the honey. for more protein power you can exchange one of the seeds with roasted soy beans and for more crunchiness you can add some chopped walnuts. enjoy baking and have a lovely weekend! ARE YOU A HAT OR A CAT PERSON?

today is fasnachts tuesday also called kids fasnacht and to be very honest I am super excited that fasnacht is over tomorrow. I live in the city center and therefore I hear the piccolo day and night 🙁 if there were just drummers it would be a totally different story.

so let me get back to my question: cats or hats? the internet is full of funny cute cat pictures and I am sure that you could look at different pictures for months and you would not have been able to see them all 🙂 I am a hat person and I can not get enough hats. my most favorite hat is swiss-made by RISA and I could easily wear it every day.

Elvire Thouvenot-Nitzan made this lovely illustration for the blog and unfortunately I can not link you to her page as she has none but in case you are interested please contact me and I will forward your messages to her or write her a direct email to elvire (at) bluewin.ch for inquiries.

instead of a funny cat I wanna show you another hat outfit wearing my lovely beige C&A hat, besides that I am wearing my lovely skirt from le MOUTON a 5 PATTES – my beloved Vintage FENDI bag – my suede booties from NAVYBOOT – my Vintage BALLY jacket and my H&M gloves and shirt!

I DID IT – BOTOX!

for the hair not that you start to think I would do such thing I dont intend to at all – BOTOX for the hair is something completely different it renoutrishes and moisturizes the hair. Stefanie Winter uses the NIKA botox treatment and I was quiet shocked when I saw her with the needle BUT she only uses this to get the product out of its container. she then mixed it with lukewarm water. but first she washed my hair with a preparing, opening shampoo and then started applying the BOTOX from roots to ends in a layering technique. once she did my complete head she wrapped me in plastic foil and let me stay under the hood dryer for thirty minutes. then she rinsed my hair with cold water and that was it – next step: blowdrying and styling.

so, wait a second, what is BOTOX for the hair? it is a keratin and protein based treatment for all hair types but especially for dry, frizzy, brittle and chemicaly treated hair. the only exception is for curly hair: it will really soften down your curls but other than that it also nourrishes the often rather dry curly hair. the BOTOX treatment will make your hair thicker, stronger, repaired, soft and it will eliminate split ends – YAY!

I really benefited from this BOTOX treatment and I would totally do it again although it lasts over a month! since the treatment it feels a lot easier to blow dry my hair as my hair has more grip and shine. for the BASEL people: go and visit her salon behind Aeschenplatz and check out her amazing skills. there is not only Stefanie, there is a team behind her: Oli & Océan (apprentice) and Helena. Stefanie offers many other nice things such as a ayurvedic scalp massage with different oils for the different hair types.

LET’S CONCEAL

today it is all about concealing! which concealer work for me and for which parts of the face and for what purpose. there are rather expensive products like M.A.C and rather affordable products like COVERGIRL and rather cheap products by CATRICE and ESSENCE – BUT let me tell you, they all work for me! I wanna focus on the most expensive and the cheaper concealers.

maccosmetics
MINERALIZE
29 CHF / 5ml
what is it about?
this is one of the best concealers for dry skin as it doesnt leave a dry feeling due to its minerals and nutrient-rich plant extracts. the consistency is creamy and it has medium coverage with natural light reflections.

where do I use it?
I use this concealer on my couperose cheeks and even though it doesnt have any green it cancels the redness. compared to other concealers I rarely use this one as a highlighter.

maccosmetics
MATCHMASTER
29 CHF / 3.5 g
what is it about?
I love stick concealers and I think they are super easy to handle. the MATCH MASTER concealer is a very a color true concealer with an average opacity for a natural, silky finish – and that is what I love about it, it does its job and conceals perfectly BUT its not cakey or looking too concealed at all. the concealer contain the same shade intelligence technology as the Match Master foundation series and therefore they run from 1 to 1.5. to 2 and so on.. they claim to last up to 8 hours. and I dont know if that is really true – all I know is that I apply it in the morning and it looks perfectly and when I look in the mirror in the evening it looks a lot faded and really asks for a touch up – in any case it depends what you are doing thru out the day.
where do I use it? concealing vs highlighting!
this concealer stick helps to cover dark circles and discoloration all over ones face and corrects them. I bought myself a rather light tone and I use it to highlight certain areas of my face (the bridge of my nose, my cubids bow, around my eyes) so in my opinion not all the concealers out there can do the job of a perfect highlighter like the ones from Estée Lauder or the famous one by YSL BUT this creamy stick concealer can!

NEW in my makeup collection are these two concealers:

essence
MATCH 2 COVER
so I have only used this concealer twice and I love it already. so where to start, the price is awesome (around 3 CHF) the lighter shade suits my skin tone perfectlly but it is winter and my skin is rather fair. I have used it under my eyes and to conceal any redness around my nose and cheeks. the product is very creamy and rather matt than shiny and thats very good as I dont want to highlight my imperfections. I will keep on using this concealer and maybe I will get back to you about it. let me see.

catrice

ALLROUND
another new concealer palette in my collection yay, and this time it has more than one and two shades, NO this time I have 5 different shades. lighter, medium and dark (perfect to conceal, contour or highlight) a rose and a green color and these are perfect to correct darker eyecircles and redness. green is awesome for redness and I mix the lightest and the green together and I use it on my cheeks to reduce the redness AND it works, yay! compared to the essence concealer this palette is a bit more expensive but you also get more options with it. (around 5 CHF) I have only used this product once so far and I have only used the lightes beige tone and the green. let me see if I will get back to you about this one too, so long!

hmm, a rather long blogpost about something so simple but I figured I wanna give you a better descriptions of the concealers I use. I hope you liked it and dont forget to visit my FB page and give it a LIKE!

good morning

better late than never – I am ready for a lovely breakfast. berries and coffee latte are today’s choice. mmmhhmm!

HAPPY TUESDAY – today I will have to organize many things and will try to create some new fancy outfits. the weather in basel is really funny – it jumps between super cold and quiet mild. that’s why I m already in a spring mood 🙂

but first let me answer some questions regarding makeup and beauty!

#what’s my favorite make up product?
awww that’s a tough one as I would have to choose between lipstick and bronzing powder..mmmhhmm I would say LIPSTICK!

#how long does it take me for my daily makeup?
ooooh that is an easy one – my daily makeup is done super fast – it takes me about 7 minutes.

#do I use anti-aging products if yes for how long?
so, I am 31 years old soon 32 and I do use some anti-aging products. I would say I started about five years ago. my main goal is to look healthy and not super young. therefore I like products with organic oil or other natural ingredients. my favorite skin care products are KIEHL’S midnight recovery concentrate, the new LUBEX anti-age hydration oil and SISLEY black rose cream mask! by using these products over night I can slightly manipulate my skin to look fresher and healthier!

#how many times a week do I use masks or peeling/exfoliating products?
ooooh that’s a good one! I love using masks and I love to pamper my skin with peeling so it really depends on the product. some masks can be used twice per week and some only once. so for example I use the SISLEY rose mask once a week and I use the KIEHL’S over night biological peel every other night.

#what do I use to wash and clean my face?
I use something rather new the CLINIQUE foaming sonic facial soap – with or without the SONIC face brush.

wow – it took me a second to answer all these questions but it was great fun and I will answer more of your questions in the future 🙂 have a lovely day! x

where to stay in VENICE ITALY?

I can highly recommend to stay at the Molino Stucky Hilton on Giudecca Island. It is very easy to access and it is only a couple of stops away from the trainstation. there is a shuttle boat that takes u to the other side of the Giudecca Canal – Zattere is the stop called. I can not believe that already so much time has passed since I was staying at the lovely Hilton Hotel in Venice.. sigh! it really was a blast. unfortunately we had to leave our awesome ride – the Alfa Romeo Giulietta – at the Airport as Venice is a car-free city!

http://www3.hilton.com/resources/media/hi/VCEHIHI/en_US/img/shared/full_page_image_gallery/main/HL_pool35_675x359_FitToBoxSmallDimension_Center.jpg

the room was sooo pretty – it faced the Giudecca Canal and also from there (fifth floor) I had an amazing view over Venice! thank you very much for the welcome bag! I enjoyed the cookies – mmmhhmm! and of course there had to be a MURANO chandelier in the room 🙂 how lovely!
