TAFETA SCOPE BASEL 2017

I was at SCOPE art fair in Basel and saw Niyi’s artwork EKPIRI inside the TAFETA gallery booth and had to know more about it. I am so happy that I can share his story and work with you.
Ekpiri
“the first time I saw ekpiri seeds was during the Ofala festival in Onitsha. Dancers and performers would use them as percussion instruments during the annual celebrations.
I’ve always loved the art of joining one thing to another or of creating something new from objects that had a different function or purpose. The vision for my latest series is to take something small—the ekpiri seed pods —and create a piece that’s over 8 feet tall. It’s an ongoing investigation into the connection between culture and visual art. How Igbo traditional musical instruments fit into my artistic conversation.”

FALL WINTER LOOK INSPIRATION

FALL WINTER LOOK INSPIRATION

aww, I found so many wonderful pieces at C&A and want to share with you some stylish and versatile outfits. As the title mentions, FALL WINTER LOOK INSPIRATION, I want to inspire you to wear some of your pieces that you might have already have in your closet in a different way.
The first look is very basic but a rather chic look. I somehow always feel a bit more chic when wearing a black/white look. But maybe thats just me. 🙂 Anyhow, I put together a white ribbed 3/4 sleeve shirt with an oversized black lace detail tank top and wear it with blue skinny jeans and a black/beige clutch. To make the look more casual one can wear sneakers. The look can be easily changed by wearing heels or like in my case below to wear small black heels, that make it all a bit more elegant.

And now I wanna get to my second look inspiration. A mustard ribbed 3/4 sleeve shirt with high waist jeans and green/brown tweed heels, gold jewelry and an oversized denim jacket and a big green alpaca scarf. The color combo of that look is so totally me. I love the mix of denim, green and yellow. Also in that case you can easily switch the shoes and make the look a bit more everyday.

FALL WINTER LOOK INSPIRATION

Last but not least I am showing you a look that I have already featured on the blog before. The article was called: “How to wear a Summer Dress in Fall” read more here >> I am still so much in love with this kind of layering look. As it is no longer fall and we have moved into winter I am adding some thick tights and would switch the flat shoes with warm boots and finish the look with a warm coat or wear a big scarf.

HOW TO WEAR A SUMMER DRESS IN AUTUMN

I hope you have found my outfit inpirations helpful and that it will inspire you to wear your clothes in a new way. Most of the basic pieces, like the ripped shirts, the tank top and the long sweater, I have found at C&A in Basel. I am always amazed about how many cool and versatile pieces I can find there. The clutch that I am wearing in look #1 is also by C&A and I have used it so much thru out summer and realized that its a great all year around clutch.
Special thanks to Miguel for taking the photos of me. X

GOLDEN IDOL

hi all, today I want to present to you Cristians tiny art piece, part of a series, that is called idols. he started recently to work with clay, a material he did not use before. he somehow felt the need to create this type of prehistorical figures, in his perspective almost archetypes of human representation. he is interested in re-evaluating through the use of a very ancient material, contemporary ways of expressing very basic human feelings, questions and symbols.

CONVERSATION TABLE (2014)

about TED NOTEN

Ted Noten is one of the most innovative jewellery designers working in the netherlands today.
with seemingly effortless ease he is one of the very few who manages to venture into projects that fall under the heading of product design. thus Noten teamed up for several projects with droog design and has presented his spoils at the furniture designfair in milan. similarly, during a stint working at he european ceramic centre he experimented with ceramic dinner sets. for other projects he sought out artists to work with. yet it is essential that Noten emphatically and symptomatically keeps coming down on the side of design, and more specifically for design that employs, feeds off and expresses itself in terms of jewellery design. because it is from this inside track of the craft that he comments on what jewellery design actually is and that he is able to best challenge representatives operating in other areas of the arts. In recent years Ted Noten has created work for private collectors, local councils, art institutions etc. a broad spectrum of galleries and museum collections now represent his oeuvre. the designer initiated some of these projects, only to be adopted later by a museum, as was the case for example with ‘Chew your own brooch’. with a little help from the chewing gum he hands out, everybody can become a jewellery designer; simply by chewing the gooey substance into a shape the craftsman then casts either in silver, bronze or gold. one of the events at which Noten manifested himself with this project was an open day at the boijmans museum, when hundreds of people filed through the museum, chewing their way to a design.

I am so happy with my new grey skirt and therefore I am wearing it non stop. it is an amazing key piece as I can wear almost everything with it. I paired it with my lovely navy neoprene top that I recently found – btw it is now on SALE 🙂 I knew I should have waited.. hahahahahha. I took these photos two days ago and at the moment I could not wear this outfit as it would be to freaking cold. we got snow in basel and the temperature dropped to below zero °C – welcome to the real swiss winter.

my everyday jewelry

thats what I currently wear everyday. absolutely in love with my huge golden watch. the Cartier like ring tells a beautiful family story. my parents had white gold wedding bands and divorced after about 20 years or so and kept the rings and are still in a good relationship so for my birthday present – becuase they knew that I love the CARTIER ring and that I always wanted to have one – they brought the wedding bands to CHRISTIN WEBER a goldsmith in Basel and she took a piece of each ring and made a new one out of the pieces. then she added a rose gold and a yellow gold ring and TATAAA! I had my very very personal family cartier ring 🙂 I wear this precious ring everyday since my 29th Birthday and that has been a while. the little tiny ring with the plate is another ring that I have been wearing for quiet a while too. I got it last January at GRIEDER in Basel. It says OUI (yes in french) on the plate – and no I am not married. 🙂 the newest ring is the funny looking one.

SUMMER look

I was waiting for the heat and the sun to come and finally they did! so what to wear when it is freaking hot? I am a huge fan of blousedresses, tunics and kaftans made out of rayon, cotton or silk. one of my favorite materials for summer is silk. so let me show you what I was wearing yesterday. I got this cotton tunic dress from MANGO a couple of years a go. It was on SALE and I think it was about 10 CHF so a real bargain. Its a white tunic with blue details below the collar and cuffs. I pair this dress with white flat sandals, golden jewelry, my CASIO knock off watch, beige sunglasses from Chicoree and my lovely watch clutch by C&A – thats it, I am ready for summer!

what is your favorite summer look?

SOMETHING NEW

I am super happy with my orange white striped TOMS and C&A sweater. a very fresh and summery statement! I wear them together with white jeans or with one of my favorite BDG highwaist jeans. I might wear this on my birthday and wear loads of golden jewelry for an extra bling bling statement! hopefully the weather will be nice on friday! fingers crossed!

C&A summer fashion festival ZH

getting ready for tonight

dresscode: BOHEMIAN – thats a direction of look that I really like either for summer or for fall. today is definitely NOT the perfect summer day but at least its not raining. so right now I am trying to put together an outfit with a bohemian touch. I found a fancy green aztec skirt at C&A that I might wear with boots and a hat. although for me a bohemian summer look has to be a maxidress with sandals, flowers in the hair and golden jewelry – thats it. BUT tonight its going to be 10 to 13 degrees C and I will be freezing in my summer outfit – thats why I will probably go for a rather warm looking bohemian summer outfit. anyway. I am really excited to see the new summer collection and enjoy the music, drinks and snacks! of course I will bring my camera in order to report everything for you guys. stay tuned! xx
