Have you ever thought about how to bring a bit of summer with you into autumn? If yes, I
have the perfect outfit inspiration for you. As autumn should be the perfect transition from summer to winter it should also work like that with our clothes. I always push the day far into the end of fall, to finally move all my summer clothes to the end of my closet. That’s how I came up with the idea of this blog post: HOW TO WEAR A SUMMER DRESS IN AUTUMN.
Choose your favorite midi length summer dress and pair it with your favorite long sweater. I found mine at C&A its available in many colors. I figured the green one will work best with my favorite dresses and is also a great color for fall.
To make this look a casual one for every day wear flat shoes. I think these looks work best with either loafers or brogues. Via Polyvore I found some nice shoes, together with some really chic metallic spaghetti strap dresses and extra long sweaters.
I am so in love with these metallic dresses. I have a very similar skirt and I am sure I am going to pair it with my new long sweater by C&A. Something that you should keep in mind is to have a very simple color scheme for your summer dress to work in fall. My summer dress is a beige lace dress and I chose a green long sweater to wear it with and a light clutch and shoes.
SUMMER DRESS IN AUTUMN
I love the fact that my long sweater has cuts on the side and is made out of wool. Here in Basel fall can be quiet cold and layering is a good way to keep warm. So, check your wardrobe and dont be afraid that the dress might be too chic. The long sweater and the flat shoes will totally balance out your midi summer dress.

SUMMER DRESS IN AUTUMN JEWELRY SELECTION
Try to keep it a bit low key with your jewelry, especially when your dress has a special textured fabric. Like in my case with the beige lace. In order to not go over board but still have a bit of chic I would suggest a nice women watch and some very simple but cute earrings. Unfortunately I could not find the exact same earrings that I was wearing in the photo above, but I guess they are quiet similar. The sunglasses are from the fleamarket and work really well with the outfit and jewelry overall.
To sum it up, in order to create this look you need three essential things to make it work. You are going to need a midi length summer dress, a long sweater and flat shoes. I am pretty sure that you are having all these items in your wardrobe and would have never thought to wear them in that combination. But here we go, mix and match. That’s the fun part about fashion.
so a month ago I signed up for ZALON and ordered a styling box. in case you dont know what zalon is, it is a styling service by zalando. I had to answer some questions and choose between different styles and colors that I usually wear. then I had to say for what occasion I was needing the clothes. I wanted shoes with fringe and I asked for a dinner outfit. you can book a slot for a phone call or order without. I went for the second and uploaded a photo of me and some nice shoes with fringe that I saw. after completing the questions you will get a list of stylists that would match with your style. I chose Anja.
In the DIY post I have talked about the white lace dress and that I was changing the buttons and made the dress look very different. so this very dress was my outfit for the C&A night out at LE PERCHOIR and the dinner at the MAMA SHELTER. first I was wearing the dress with my flat animal print flats and then later on changed to my grey tamaris heels. what an awesome dress, I am looking forward to wearing it in many ways during spring/summer!

when I was walking thru the streets of basel in order to get some fashion inspiration I stumbled upon this cute outfit and I had to share it with you. unfortunately I was a bit in a hurry so I couldnt ask her for her name or the clothes she was wearing but I have found some similar pieces that I wanna share with you now:
for the readers among you that remember criss cross and how they wore their pants the wrong way around I had exactly such a moment when I was wearing this outfit last week. 🙂
the gorgeous black PARENTI’S cashemere sweater has a HUGE V-neck and I really didnt feel like wearing a top below or taping the sweater to my boobs – so I took a criss cross decision and wore the sweater the wrong way around and it actually didnt feel so bad at all and also it didnt look too bad either. for future times I would totally do it the same way!

aaww the sun is out and one can start wearing midi skirts without tights and socks – yay! I was waiting for this the last 6 months! I love to mix different clothes that I have been wearing during winter and make a more spring-ish outfit out of it. this neoprene skirt is from the H&M winter collection and it has a perfect length for todays weather! my newest bargain are these lovely heart ballerinas that I have showed you before in my zalando shopping haul – unfortunately I can not link you to the shoes as they are currently sold out!

wearing a subtle mix of yellow and brown! I love to play with colors and materials and I was surprised that I have not worn this combo before. I have found all these items a very long time ago and all of them were on SALE!
the shirt I have found at Benetton in Basel and it is by SISLEY – the skirt is from FIZZEN and the awesome brown pointy pumps are from the NAVYBOOT Outlet at STÜCKI. the brown H&M leather bag found its way for 5 CHF into my wardrobe from the fleamarket 🙂 so yeah, not all of them were on SALE but all of them were a bargain.
I hope you all had a nice weekend and that you can start freshly into the new week – I got loads of things planned for the upcoming week – fashion shootings – cashmere SALE and an event in ZH. stay tuned. X

yay – the sun is out we already passed the month of January so what I am trying to say is we are almost done with winter. or at least thats what I extremly wish for. at the H&M Clarashopping I have found this lovely striped dress for 29.90 CHF and as I was returning several bags of old clothes I got a 5 CHF discount voucher that I have used for the dress – so even a bigger bargain!
the color green mixed with blue and white is a cry for summer – not kidding this reminds me so much of the clear water of the ocean. currently I have seen many cool things in the color blue and green. last week at the Estée Lauder press event I was given a fantastic blue eyeliner pencil in the color COBALT BLUE and it is a dream – in fact I am wearing it today on my upper lash line. another color that drew my attention is the KURE BAZAAR nailpolish in KALE – a wonderful dark subtle green! unfortunately the new green is not on the chart yet. more about these nailpolishes soon on the blog.
one of my favorite books regarding fashion and style is the one above in the photo. and it shows many nice key pieces for the perfect style. this very morning I was browsing thru this book and it made me think about these pieces: my beloved VALENTINO sandals – the lovely rose lipstick by ESTÉE LAUDER – the sweet scent LOVESTORY by CHLOÉ and golden hoops.
now I wanna answer some fashion questions: #1 what are key pieces?
these are clothes that can be worn in many different ways and always remain timeless. a good navy or black blazer – a nice white blouse – a skinny jeans – black or brown chelsea boots – a beige trench coat – white sneakers – black flats etc.
#2 are there any no-go in fashion?
hmm, thats a tough question as for me almost everything goes and hardly anything is impossible. personally I dont like to mix black and brown and navy and black – but thats just me 🙂 but on the other hand I love to mix and match with colors and patterns. back in the days it was also not so cool to mix red and pink but thats also something that works perfectly for me. another thing I wanna share is that when I am wearing a short skirt I am always wearing a rather simple top with it and when I wear a nice cleavage shirt I try not to wear it with shorts but with a nice pants instead.
#3 whats my go-to look for a business day?
atm this would be a pencil skirt with a cashmere sweater, ankle boots and an oversized coat. in case you need inspiration check my outfits from 201120122013 and 2014 or check my polyvore page.
a beige midi wool skirt that I have found at the LE MOUTON A 5 PATTES outlet boutique for 54 CHF instead of 187 CHF – what a bargain. for the people in basel this place is def worth a visit – for men and women!
