Finally the best week of Basel has arrived. The Art Basel week with VOLTA, SCOPE, LISTE, DESIGN MIAMI BASEL and many other side shows. My first blog post about this years Art week is dedicated to VOLTA 13 and their partners AESOP and galleryLOG. Lets start with the AESOP installation by Irena Eden & Stjin Lernout.
German-Belgian artist duo Irena Eden & Stijn Lernout have created a site-specific installation at Aesop’s Spalenberg boutique in Basel, a diaphanous intervention that plays off the building’s architecture in bold, space-defining color and pattern. Their project compliments Eden and Lernout’s solo booth with Krupic Kersting Galerie | Kuk (Cologne) at VOLTA13, which further defines their research into social relationships and cultural cartography via geometric abstraction.

For VOLTA13, GalleryLOG has selected Jane Benson (exhibiting with LMAKgallery, New York), Dennis Dawson (exhibiting with frosch&portmann, New York), Erika Harrsch (exhibiting with RoFa Projects, Potomac), and Rachel Owens (exhibiting with ZieherSmith, New York).

Wielding an interdisciplinary and research-based approach, Jane Benson (presented by LMAKgallery, New York) develops multilayered narratives that deftly transform and relate back to their experimental source material. Her recent series Song for Sebald collaged author W.G. Sebald’s novel The Rings of Saturn to create, as noted in a review by ARTnews, “music between the words.”

Dennis Dawson reuses and rearranges media unearthed from consumer catalogues and other magazines, particularly loose pages that bear some prior purpose. By using material already existing materials, Dawson contributes to a dialogue of shared experience and interconnection.

Butterflies are a recurring theme for Erika Harrsch (presented by RoFa Projects, Potomac), as their distinctive shapes and flock patterns become the basis for exploring migration, sexual identity, immigration reform, and physical boundaries.

Consumer culture and environmental concerns imbue the shattered glass and resin sculptures by Rachel Owens (presented by ZieherSmith, New York). As the centerpiece for her recent solo exhibition at the gallery, Owens cast from the Alley Pond Giant, a 130-foot-tall tulip poplar tree in Queens, New York, and considered the tallest and oldest living organism in the city.
I hope that you will find time to check out this years VOLTA show at Markthalle Basel. I will be there today and am sure that I will see lots of nice things for the blog. stay tunded for more. X

TREAT YOURSELF

yes, we all have to treat ourselves every now and then! and I did yesterday at MANOR – I stumbled upon the new courrèges collection for Estée Lauder! sigh, what a super nice collection with a shimmering bronzing powder a cute tiny brush that is perfect for travelling, two eyeshadows, several lip products and fake eyelashes. out of the whole collection I was absolutely fascinated by the minty green-ish shimmering eyeshadow. it reminds me so much of a mermaid! and zack – I had to have it! at the moment you get 10% off when paying with the MANOR card and some brands even add another 10% not the case with Estée Lauder but at least I got 10% off. instead of 39 CHF it was 35.10 CHF – a tiny bargain!

here you can watch my lovely YT video about the new eyeshadow and soon I will show you a makeUp look where you can see me play around with it.

I wish you all a lovely sunny day and dont forget to subscribe to my channel via youtube! https://www.youtube.com/user/isawsomethingnice

new MAKE-UP

awwww I am so happy about all these lovely new makeup things that found their way to my home – some of the them are actually not newly launched, like the brush, the mascara and the lustre drops. so let me tell you what there is new in my make-Up collection:

BRUSH 217
LUSTRE DROPS PINK REBEL
HAUTE&NAUGHTY MASCARA
LIPGLASS CANDY YUM-YUM
LIP PENCIL CANDY YUM-YUM
TOLEDO EYE LINER PETROL BLUE
TOLEDO VENUS RED NAIL LACQUER
TOLEDO PALETTE VIOLETWINK
BAO BAO WAN ROMANTIC BREAKDOWN LIPSTICK
BAO BAO WAN IMPERIAL GREEN NAIL LACQUER

there are lots of new collections like the TOLEDO and BAO BAO WAN and another one will also soon be on the blog and thats the CINDERELLA one.

I took a video and showed you the products on youtube and that was my first voice over video that I made for my channel. I still got so many things to learn but filming and editing is fun!

I use the LUSTRE DROPS as a highlighter on my cheekbones and browbones in summer I sometimes mix it into my foundation and achieve an allover glow. the 217 brush is one of my favorite brush and it was about time to exchange my super old one that I once bought in a X MAS gift set. when I saw the pigmentation of the lipglass I almost fainted OMG – such a gorgeous pink! as I already told you in my youtube video I love pink lipstick and my two favorite are LICKABLE and GOOD KISSER. I swatched them for you and also swatched the lip pencil and the lipglass next to it.

new makeup

the pink lip pencil might be a tad too light but I tried it and it is absolutely wearable another lip product that will work perfectly is the casual colour for lip and cheek in the color YOUNG AT HEART. aaww I am ready for spring and ready to wear bright lipstick again!

Zalando Summer House 2014

This year 22 international fashion bloggers were invited to the Zalando Summer House (#zalandosummerhouse). From the 28th until the 30th of August 2014, they stayed at the wonderful castle- Schloss Herzfelde in the Uckermark an hour north of Berlin. Inspired by ‘La Dolce Vita’ of the 1950s the house was decorated with candy coloured furniture, contained a café with an Italian barista, a big garden with retro games and DIY stations that gave the bloggers time to relax, be creative and enjoy the good life.

As you may all know plastic is not the best thing to use if we want to make this world a better place… I watched several videos about plastic bottles in the ocean and many other disgusting places.. and eventhough we make such an amazing job with recycling PET, GLAS & ALU in SWITZERLAND there are places where people are not aware of the affect to the nature.. plastic in the ocean, washed into tiny pieces which you find in fish and birds and in the end human eat the fish and it ends up in our tummies… #notcool – take a minute and check these videos and reconsider buying plastic bottles when you can use something more sustainable instead.

SAY NO TO <PET> and help making this world a better place!
