Colmillo de Morsa

COLMILLO DE MORSA

Colmillo de Morsa
Last summer I was in Barcelona and was on the look out for some cool spanish fashion designers. I first walked in to Ana Tichy’s shop and she suggested to also visit her friend’s label and gave me the direction. When I stood in front of the shop and read the label: COLMILLO DE MORSA, I knew that I already met the people behind this brand at the Capsule Show in Paris in 2013. What a small world, no? >> see more here <<
Colmillo de Morsa
They showed the most beautiful spring/summer collection and I fell in love with the orange/salmon pieces. Everything is designed and handmade in Barcelona. I asked them some questions about the label and here is what they have to say:
Question: Colmillo de Morsa, how did you end up with this awesome and special name?

To find the name of the brand was quite spontaneous. We were reading a history book about ancient civilizations and we saw images of ornaments made of ivory of walrus tusks. We talked about how special it is that an ugly animal could have something so beautiful and we decided that Colmillo de Morsa (meaning Walrus Tusk) should be our name. Colmillo de Morsa, hides our first premise: the beauty has endless forms, as many as eyes that look at it.

Question: When and how was Colmillo de Morsa founded?

Colmillo de Morsa was born in Barcelona in late 2009. We come from fashion design and architecture and found an affinity between us and in our concept design. And we share the philosophy and way of work.

Question: If you have to describe your current fall/winter collection in 3 words, what would the 3 words be?

Probably it would be NATURE, QUALITY and SENSITIVITY.

Question: Where can we find your collection and where can people from outside spain shop your collection?

We have our own store in Barcelona, in Gracia district. In the same space we have the studio where we design, cut and sew most of the pieces. People who cometo shop really apreciate the things we do and know about our special pieces. We are selling also in different stores around Spain. (in Valencia, Zaragoza, Bilbao…) For people outside Spain we have the online store where we sell our collections directly and ship to almost everywhere.

Colmillo de Morsa

I can highly recommend to have a look at their collection. >> http://colmillodemorsa.com << Some of the pieces are on SALE and there is already a sneak peek of the upcoming collection.

MODE SUISSE Edition 11 – Swiss Fashion Design

Mikki Levy Strasser (ZH) has visited this years Mode Suisse Edition 11 for isawsomethingnice.ch and will tell us all about the news and hits of this years fashion collections. In the photo below you can see Mikki holding an issu_issu bag. Thank you Mikki for writing this blogpost and for sharing your opinion. X

MODE SUISSE Edition 11 - swiss fashion

Mode Suisse Edition 11 – Swiss fashion design design
The 11th Edition of the Mode Suisse happened on March 7th at the Löwenbräu Areal in Zurich. Mode Suisse is an event that showcases Swiss fashion designers and their new collections. There was much to be seen this time!
The evening started with a Pre-view Cocktail where a few selected people had the chance to see the space before they had to leave the room and move to the upper floor where the L shaped Catwalk was. The runway floors were covered in carpets by the Swiss designers Schönstaub which gave the room that extra something.

The show started BIG! Julia Seemann blew us away last time and she did it again. It was the perfect twist of street chic and 90s that is so in fashion right now. She showed the crowd that she is right at the pulse of time. Gurls get yourself a pair of patent leather over-knee boots. It is not a hooker thing anymore with this collection.

The students of HEAD (Haute École d’Art et de Design) from Geneva showed very interesting modern pieces. I especially loved the oversized faux-fur coats by Jeremy Gaillard. Also I loved the play with proportions. It was one of these pieces that I would have loved to try on and take home. If people would see me with this on the street in Zurich they would think I am crazy. But who cares, a reason more for me to want one! It is not easy to be a peacock in a grey world, but it is a lot of fun!

MODE SUISSE Edition 11 - swiss fashion design

Following the students from Geneva was the traditional design house from Zurich, En Soie. I loved the pink cashmere sweaters and the cotton bomber jackets with the logo on the back. This collections was sticking to their roots and was showing us the evergreens they have been producing ever since. I loved it and my advise to everyone is: invest in evergreens!

The Basel based design team WuethrichFuerst showed some big and bold prints with seat belts and golden metallic blocks as details. It was interesting and iI will keep an eye on them from now on.

MODE SUISSE Edition 11 - swiss fashion design

Now lets talk about something nice for men: the collection by Julian Zigerli. The models came out on to the runway as one solid group all holding each other. One after the other left the group and made it’s way down and around the corner where they lay down on the floor to come together as a group again. Something that was already seen at his Paris fashion week presentation. It must have been an amazing experience to see that life. As always he showed fun prints in different shades of green. Green checkered pants. Fine rip top and trousers in dark green. Coats with leo-prints and an oversized jumper with a big cat face on the front. It was fun, playful and wearable. If I have some money to spend it will definitely be at Zigerli.

MODE SUISSE Edition 11 - swiss fashion design

After the show a lot of the people met again downstairs to talk about what they saw and to look at each other. It was there where i spotted the girls from the new brand issu_issu (www.issuissu.com). They showed me their beautiful hand bags that have a clear PET shell and an inner bag with an amazing print. I immediately grabbed it and told them I want one. This is way more than just a cool hand bag. This is an art piece. I can not wait to get one and put it up in my room.
To sum it all up. This edition once more showed that Swiss fashion can be daring and right at the pulse of time, yet it has the freedom to be itself.
So long, for I saw something nice.
Yours Mikki

ROMANIAN FASHION DESIGN

ROMANIAN FASHION DESIGN

A couple of weeks ago I was in Bucharest Romania. I was amazed by the romanian fashion design and want to share with you the nice things I have seen there.
THE PLACE X
The Place X is the first concept store opened in Bucharest, looking to bring the latest trends and timeless classics to the ever-developing local fashion market. With a unique point of view, the luxurious multibrand mixes cult names in fashion with up and coming international and local designers, rare beauty, iconic perfumes, high tech gadgets and chic events. Inspiring, fashionable, passionate and fun, these are the words that highlight the Place X spirit.
I could not agree more with what they say about themselves on their website. I fell in love with the gorgeous pieces by VALENTINA VIDRASCU and ADELINA IVAN.

It was quiet cold in Bucharest, hence the very wintery outfit. Layering clothes is always a good way to keep warm. I have visited the recently opened COS store in Bucharest and found this lovely green coat and a matching dress. Very little did I know that it would be a green day for me. Because just some hours after purchasing these lovely COS pieces I found my dream bag in green by the romanian brand called MUSETTE.

MUSETTE
What started in 1992 as a trading company is nowadays one of the most preeminent fashion brands of the world. Famous for the high quality and luxury design of its shoes and purses, Musette reflects the perfectly balanced mix of tradition, research, artisanal craftsmanship and innovation.
Each of Musette’s creations tells a story which inspires women and makes them feel beautiful. A story that starts with a vision and continues with more than 100 steps, since it takes at least 100 manufacturing steps for a purse or a pair of shoes to reach highest quality standards and turn into an adored accessory.
The success achieved on the international market so far supports the ambition of the company to continue business expansion in several countries, to consolidate and grow brand awareness and to turning thus into a strong global player! In order to deliver innovative and performant products, Musette constantly experiments new advanced production technics, invests in revolutionary materials and in product research. Still, with all advantages brought by technology, the main resource of Musette is the experience, craft and skills of its people. At the end of the day Musette remains an artisan – luxury’s main feature.
Cristina Batlan has been the Head of Musette’s Creation Division since 2003, coordinating a team of Italian and French designers, initiating fashion and art projects with local or foreign artists, designing every season the new refreshed brand image. The result is always an explosion of forms, colors, textures and thrilling details. Musette shoes and purses catch immediately your eye due to their novel colors, unexpected textures and freshness of the combinations.
These are all thingd that I have found on the MUSETTE website. Indeed a very inspiring fashion brand. When I saw the brown ATLAS bag it was love at first sight. Such a stylish but yet simple hand bag. My search for the perfect hand bag was over, finally. Every time I am wearing my MUSETTE bag I get so many compliments and people want to know where I have found this piece of beauty. Now you all know, its from MUSETTE.

MY FV LOOK

MY FV LOOK

I did something that I rarely ever do. I am wearing top and bottom the same brand and it is not H&M, hahahaha. : ) nooo, it is TARA JARMON. a big up for this amazing french designer.
more about TARA JARMON here >>

MY FV LOOK

a rather simple but AHA outfit. one color is dominating and there is lots of sparkle and shine from the top and pants. therefore I didnt feel like adding any heavy golden or silver jewelry and only chose two matching accessories: the white shoes by BATA and the cute clock bag and black sunglasses by C&A. I absolutely love the shoes with this outfit for me this is a match made in heaven as I first did not really know with what I should wear these super high white heels.

MY FV LOOK

I first fell in love with the silver top and actually wanted to pair it with the red skirt that unfortunately had a broken zipper but then in the end I found the matching pants and taataaaaa this is MY FASHION VESTIS LOOK. I was asked to join a blogger contest where we can win a 3000 CHF shopping voucher and a photoshooting. as soon as I will have the link where you can vote I will put it HERE
