OUTFITS – ART BASEL 2016 WEEK

this years Art Basel it was raining constantly and it was a real challenge to pick the right clothes for that week. I had plans to wear some really nice summer sandals that I could wear with almost all of my summery dresses. but due to the rain I had to make some drastic changes to my outfit plans. meaning every dress had to find a matching coat, umbrella and shoes that will not be destroyed by the rain.

I was so honored to wear Natascha’s beautiful designer belts: LITTLE FURNITURE ASSEMBLAGE. for three of my outfits I found a matching belt and these are also the looks that I am going to show you in that post.

“have you ever combined a mint green dress with brown? I absolutely love this combo and the colors of the belt work perfectly with the rest of the outfit.”
and now I wanna show you another lovely combination of a bright color with a beige/white houndstooth coat and a very colorful belt by LITTLE FURNITURE ASSEMBLAGE. I was so happy to see that there was exactly the same blue appearing in the belt. together with the pink and red tones this belt is a true statement piece!

C&A FALL WINTER COLLECTION 2016

C&A fall winter collection 2016
thank you C&A for taking me to Amsterdam and showing me the upcoming C&A fall winter collection 2016. with weather in june like this I feel that I am not far away from wearing fall/winter clothes and can not wait to shop my fall winter collection. the weather has been a serious nightmare with endless rain and very cool temperatures. I can not believe that it was warmer in april than it is in june. nevertheless, I wanna tell you a bit more about the presentation of the fall winter collection 2016.
the location of the event was spectacular. there was a beautiful green C&A logo in the entrance that led into a round event hall that had a black curtain drawn all around. after a quick introduction the curtain was lifted and a 360 degree fashion show with the complete fall winter collection 2016 was behind it.
C&A fall winter collection 2016
that was a wonderful surprise. we were then divided into groups and got an introduction to every collection: men, denim, lingerie, clockhouse, accessories etc. we were given tags with our name and publication title and had the possibility to give them feedback by hanging them to your favorite piece. let me tell you, there are going to be soooo many cool pieces for the fall winter collection 2016 that it was really hard to place only four cards 🙂
C&A fall winter collection 2016
the big thing of the new collection is going to be denim. there is a new collection in bio cotton with new shapes and cuts. we will see the return of flare leg, bootcut and highrise. for men there is going to be a new trend called stacked, that means that the jeans are too long and stack on the bottom. for women there will be a cropped bootcut and cropped flare cut and as already mentioned there is going to be the return of the high rise. my favorite denim pieces are the quitled indigo jacket and the bow tie blouse.
in addition to the new denim collection there is a nature inspired color palette with comfy and warm colors that give you the need to cover yourself up. inspired by the idea that nature should be part of everyday life, the fall winter collection uses organic textures and delicate feminine detailing to create beautiful pieces to wrap up warm in.
there are going to be some really cool pieces like a asymmetric poncho, a checked belted coat or the white knitted longline coat that you can see in the picture below (and in the back you can see a lady wearing the denim bow tie blouse).
C&A fall winter collection 2016
aaawww, these are my two favorite pieces, the white longline coat and the short beige faux leather jacket. and soon there will be an overview with my favorite items of the fall winter collection with inspiration on how to wear all those cool new fall winter pieces. stay tuned.

MAYGARDENS STATEMENT
“I create paintings without the aid of technology, yet I am interested in making works that are informed by and react to a culture defined by a digital experience. My work references familiar technology-created images, such as photography, x-rays, or Photoshop filters, yet are created only using the meticulous illusion of paint. Through referencing the digital image I am able to make paintings that walk the line between something and nothing, that both play to our expectations of the disposable contemporary image and the valued tradition of the handmade.”

Surface 2016
as you just read in the text above, Maygarden is having a run. I really appreciate the color sensitivity in her artworks and am a huge fan of her patterns. the pieces that I am showing in this post have a great depth and an almost relief-like appearance. her work reminds me a lot of fabric and tissues. another impression that her artpieces leave on me is the feeling of nature and landscape, I somehow think of the swiss alps and the relief maps of them.

in case you are in Basel you should definately pass by the AESOP shop at Spalenberg 24 that is showing her art work in the window. (from now until end of VOLTA12). stay tuned for my next blogpost where I will tell you more about her works for AESOP.

a new winning team

I tried out something new and now it is finally the time to share it with you. I got two nice things by MAX FACTOR X and had fun playing around. as you can see from the caption of this blogpost, I really like both of the things. so lets first have a look what I am talking about:

MAX FACTOR X
MIRACLE MATCH foundation
50 natural

MAX FACTOR X
SMOKEY EYE DRAMA KIT
04 luxe lilas
MAX FACTOR X
so lets start with the eye shadow kit. a great palette for green and hazel brown eyes as it brings out the green due to the purple and lilac color shades. I wanna quickly review the shades from left to right: the first shade is an awesome base color and eyebrow bone highlighter. it can be used for a very natural eye look for a very simple and nude makeup. then we have the two lilac purple colors that are great to play with around the lash line or use it as a V in the outer eye corner for a more dramatic and smokey look. the last color is like the first one an awesome base color or can be used to give some definition to the crease. for an inbetween look I would suggest using the first and last color, using the first one as a base and on the eye brow bone and the last one to shade the crease. voila! thats it, one palette with multiple options for different looks. and now lets talk about the foundation, it is a foundation with a great coverage. perfect for people with redness or want to cover blemishes. I got the 50 natural shade and it is a tint to light for me. so I can only use a tiny bit and apply a ver light layer and then use bronzing powder and blush to bring back my face color. but winter has only started and my bikini lines are fading, I am sure my face will be lighter in two months and that it then will be the perfect shade. I will try to show you my created looks via my social media channels, which you can also access via the blog by clicking here >>

VITRA SUMMER PARTY 2015

as every year it was a blast to be invited by VITRA for the summerparty during ART BASEL. look at the lovely decoration – so nice! there was cool music and lots of nice art and design to see. there are many different buildings inside the VITRA campus, the newest is by SANA. my favorite one is the showroom by HERZOG & DE MEURON but I also like the one by TADAO ANDO. this years entry badge was a piece of fabric that the tied around our wrists. a nice idea but so far the metall bands were my favorite – I still have them and collected the different colors from other friends that were there.

VITRA

the food was delicious and there was a nice vegetarian alternative. my favorite was the couscous salad – mmmhhhmm, can I please have one more?! and the ice cream was a touch of heaven on earth too bad I did not check by whom the catering was..

I dunno if you can remember but a couple of years ago there was a bug attack during VITRA PARTY and I was telling some friends about that and literally 5 minutes later the first bug was there and he was followed by friends. I jinxed it 🙂 sorry for that but again it was fun to see all the people hide and run from the almost blind flying bugs.. after one hour the bugs were gone, ouff!

VITRA

all the friends in the house – eehm at the VITRA PARTY!
thank you Wilpert, Mo, Cristian, Esther and Fleur – it was super nice!

BOLD COLORS

bold colors

yes spring and summer have come to basel and as in the years before it is not a slight change of temperatures nooo, it is a very rapid change from 12 degrees C it jumps to 30 degrees C the next day… so for the wardrobe that means to always be prepared. I have my spring summer and fall clothes in the same place. the only things that I have removed are my winter coats and winter dresses – the rest stays because you never know you might need something with longsleeves the next day..

bold colors

when I was in Paris I found this lovely bold blue silk blouse at the SONIA RYKIEL outlet and I love to wear it with other bright colors.

todays outfit

this is my tiny hope that spring will arrive early this year 🙂 and therefore I have put together this pastel – floral outfit. I have showed you my zalando spring haul a couple of days ago and today I am finally wearing my new grey pumps by tamaris. they are extremly comfy – the first time that I wear tamaris shoes and I am quiet impressed! due to the platform the actual heel is not so tall and one can really feel that when walking and standing for longer periods.

KURE BAZAAR

I have got something nice to show you – the 4-free nail polishes by KURE BAZAAR Paris. I have so far tried the two beautiful colors BOHEMIAN and KALE – two very strong independent colors – and two different base coats and one top coat. I have discovered KURE BAZAAR last year at the Parfumerie Hyazinth in Basel and was really impressed by the 4-free formula and tried the BOHEMIAN color and the FIRST BASE basecoat. well as I am a STRIPLAC lover this nail polish of course didnt last as long.. in fact it chipped already after the second day eventough I had used a base and top coat.

at the KURE BAZAAR event we were given the DRY FINISH top coat and the CLEAN mate base coat and its really funny that now when I use the CLEAN mate base coat instead of the FIRST BASE the nailpolish lasts longer – I am impressed! so in my case the mate base called CLEAN helps the nail polish last longer. I had the BOHEMIAN for two days and the KALE for three days – still no comparison to my 20 days + with STRIPLAC but it is 4-free and that should really matter!

what does 4-free mean? it means that the company has removed four toxic ingredients and has replaced them with natural ones. so what did they remove exactly? they have removed Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene and Formaldehyde Resin! the KURE BAZAAR formula is up to 85 % of natural origin based on wood pulp, cotton, potatoes, wheat and corn.

so what I absolutely love, besides the fact that the nail polishes are of natural origin, are the colors! I have hardly ever seen so many nice colors of one single brand. the KALE and BOHEMIAN are two very special colors and so far I have not found any similar colors. hmm, maybe for the BOHEMIAN the MAVALA Sienna Red could be a close dupe but just close. what do you think?

I went thru my collection of beauty products and found quiet a lot of nice fall colors, 15 to be precise. let me list them below. for me the two most important things about wearing darker lipsticks are to have a very even nice skin and exfoliated lips!

estée lauder HEART BEET nailpolish
m.a.c PALACE PEDIGREED eyeshadow

in fall I also love to wear darker tones on my nails and I am so happy with the STRIPLAC dark violet – the OPI in the cable car pool lane – MALVA las vegas and ALESSANDRO love affaire. when I look at my beauty stuff I can see a lot of different bronzing poswers and a huge variety of lipsticks. well no surprise to me – as these are my two favorite parts to apply makeup: cheeks and lips!

SMOKE AND MIRRORS

thank you Jessy for being my model for this blogpost – you did an amazing job! I got the CLINIQUE all about shadow quad at the bloggers event a couple weeks a go and I was eager to try it out. I got number 09 in the shade smoke and mirrors. four beautiful colors – a light silver – a light grey – a sparkling black with silver particles and a black. I used all of the four colors on Jessys eyes.

I started with the lightest color and I applied it allover the lid. then I applied the second color the light grey in the crease and smooshed it out towards the middle of the eye. then I went in with the sparkling black and colored the outer v the last step I did was I took the fourth color the black one and I used it as an eyeliner allaround the eye. thats it – four simple steps for a dramatic smokey eye look!

14 ROOMS

so what can I tell you about this show. It is not part of Art Basel but it is located just behind the art unlimited in hall 3. to be very honest I didnt see all the rooms because of the long queues. but what I saw I either liked or I tried to understand the meaning and thoughts behind the artwork. one of my favorite rooms was the one by DAMIEN HIRST. I have visited the 14 ROOMS on different days and saw that there are not always the same people in the room. I saw the dark haired twins, the blonde twin girls and the rasta boys who werent twins. Sadly one is not allowed to take photos inside the show. but here you can find more information about the project and some photos –> https://www.artbasel.com/en/Basel/About-the-Show/14-Rooms
