parenti’s cashmere

the spring/summer collection by Parenti’s is out and there are lots of nice cashmere, silk and cashmere/cotton mix pieces with a super awesome lookbook. above you can see some lovely photos of the models wearing an elegant and comfy mix of the collection.

my favorite piece is this one:

parentis cashmere

aaww – I can totally see myself wearing this maxi dress on a windy summer evening together with my favorite sandals and a washed out jeans jacket! aaah I can not wait for the warm days to arrive! in the photo the model is also wearing the pants but for me that would be a bit too much cashmere for summer!

FOR THE BASEL PEOPLE
there is a showroom at St.Alban-Vorstadt 68 A
where you can have a look at the collection and order your desired color and size. you might wonder how this work? so let me explain you the business model: Sabine Parenti launches a collection twice a year: spring/summer and fall/winter. for every collection she chooses about ten different colors and all the pieces are more or less available in these colors. so for example the ribbed cashmere dress that you see in beige above can be ordered in a bright orange a dull green or many other colors.

a super basic but maybe just for swiss spring and summer is the college V neck sweater that you can see here in off-white – but I would totally wear this all year around.

parentis cashmere

so I hope I was showing you something nice and have a look at the collection here: http://www.parentis-cashmere.com there are lots of other nice pieces and different colors!

this is my tiny hope that spring will arrive early this year 🙂 and therefore I have put together this pastel – floral outfit. I have showed you my zalando spring haul a couple of days ago and today I am finally wearing my new grey pumps by tamaris. they are extremly comfy – the first time that I wear tamaris shoes and I am quiet impressed! due to the platform the actual heel is not so tall and one can really feel that when walking and standing for longer periods.

TODAYS OUTFIT

wearing a subtle mix of yellow and brown! I love to play with colors and materials and I was surprised that I have not worn this combo before. I have found all these items a very long time ago and all of them were on SALE!
the shirt I have found at Benetton in Basel and it is by SISLEY – the skirt is from FIZZEN and the awesome brown pointy pumps are from the NAVYBOOT Outlet at STÜCKI. the brown H&M leather bag found its way for 5 CHF into my wardrobe from the fleamarket 🙂 so yeah, not all of them were on SALE but all of them were a bargain.

I hope you all had a nice weekend and that you can start freshly into the new week – I got loads of things planned for the upcoming week – fashion shootings – cashmere SALE and an event in ZH. stay tuned. X

OOH YES BABY!

this is my new favorite fragrance! B. by Balenciaga Paris created by Alexander Wang and Domitille Bertier from IFF. what a lovely fragrance one for every day including the special days too.

I am so happy to already have this before its in the shop so I can tell you how great it is and that I am more than sure that this will be a big must have fragrance in the future. everytime I am wearing this – and this is almost every second day – I get a compliment on my fragrance followed by the question what it is that I am wearing. I had to give some to my mom as she already loves it too and I got one of these tiny containers where you can fill in the fragrance – these little spray containers come in very handy when you travel with hand luggage. what I find really funny is that the fragrance transforms in two different ways after wearing it on the skin for a moment – either the fresh, green note lingers around or the warm and almost powdery touch stays more present. in my case it was the fresh green part that lasted and with my mom it was the opposite. another thing that I wanna say is even though this parfum is actually created for women it could also be a more unisex fragrance BUT one has to like a quiet dominant floral scent.

head note: soy bean, lilly of the valley
heart note: orris root, cedarwood
base note: musk, cashmerewood

the fragrance will be exclusively sold at Marionnaud starting March 14, 2015

the campaign was photographed by Steven Klein and shows a classic portrait of the model Anna Ewers. she was styled by Vanessa Traina and had her makeup done by Diane Kendal and her hair were styled by Didier Malige it took place in New York and I almost could not believe – it was taken on December 11, 2013 – yes, thats quiet some time ago.
unfortunately the fragrance is not a very cheap one here you can see a list of prices:

Eau de parfum 75ml 175 CHF
Eau de Parfum 50ml 145 CHF
Eau de Parfum 30ml   89 CHF

Body Lotion 200ml 71.50 CHF
Shower Gel 200ml  65.00 CHF

today’s outfit

wearing different patterns in black and white and this
inspired me to write something about these kind of looks. when we wear
to many patterns in different colors we often look like a circus clown.
that’s why I am only wearing black and white with different patterns.
mix and match is something I love to do <3 and I got quiet a
collection of things to match or mix. another thing that I am aware of
is to wear a simple hair style and a one colored clutch.another thing is that you can play with the lengths of your clothes and layer them nicely so one can see all the different patterns.

now I will take lots of photos for the blog as I have many new nice things to show you. stay tuned. X

MY NEW SHOES

thank you NAVYBOOT for spoiling me with those literally LOVELY shoes and I was already wearing them the whole weekend – I mean are there any better Valentines shoes out there? as I already wrote on FB and you probaly realized that I didnt have any special Valentines Day thing on my blog is due to the fact that I dont believe in such thing – every day should be a Valentines Day <3

so back to the <3 heart sneakers <3 – I have a humming melody of the cheesy song  “I put on my shoes and I am ready for the weekend” in my head and thats how I feel with these. they look fancy and special and the best thing is that they are extremly comfortable. let me tell you that I actually wanted to first wear them with jeans but this morning I was not in a jeans mood and therefore the shoes had to fit my black and white skirt outfit – and I think they did very well.

A NEW DRESS

a new dress found its way to my wardrobe!

yay – the sun is out we already passed the month of January so what I am trying to say is we are almost done with winter. or at least thats what I extremly wish for. at the H&M Clarashopping I have found this lovely striped dress for 29.90 CHF and as I was returning several bags of old clothes I got a 5 CHF discount voucher that I have used for the dress – so even a bigger bargain!

the color green mixed with blue and white is a cry for summer – not kidding this reminds me so much of the clear water of the ocean. currently I have seen many cool things in the color blue and green. last week at the Estée Lauder press event I was given a fantastic blue eyeliner pencil in the color COBALT BLUE and it is a dream – in fact I am wearing it today on my upper lash line. another color that drew my attention is the KURE BAZAAR nailpolish in KALE – a wonderful dark subtle green! unfortunately the new green is not on the chart yet. more about these nailpolishes soon on the blog.

HOW TO LOOK LIKE MARILYN MONROE

hair tutorial

this was planned for quiet a while and finally I had the chance and time to do it together with Helena from the Winter Coiffure Salon in Basel. thank you so much for everything. x

Marylin Monroe is very known for her blonde curly look and eventhough I am not blonde I think we can all try to look a bit like her – not kidding! so what I am trying to is to create a similar look but work with the features of ones face and make a nice fusion look. so in my case I watched so many youtube tutorials and documentaries about Marilyn Monroe and learned a lot about her life and career and oh dear, she didnt have a too happy life as she was addicted to drugs and had a hard time organizing her life and acting – often she didnt show up on the set or fell asleep during the takes due to her sleeping pill addiction. but of course there are also nice and funny things to share about her. to achive the perfect wiggle she cut a tiny piece of both of her heels – thats genious, isnt it? who would do that today except for Lady Gaga?

so let me start with the TUTORIAL and guide you thru some easy steps – ten to be exact. Firs of all you need Curling Irons in two different sizes (small and medium) and some good shampoo and treatment products, I used the REDKEN Blonde Idol collection and the VALERA curling irons. We also need booby pins, Hairspray and makeUp (redlipstick, fake eyelashes, foundation, eyeliner in black) and a Marilyn Monroe outfit.

step 1

wash your hair and use mousse for a better grip – pull it through the hair from scalp to the ends.

step 2

blow dry your hair. I read that it is better to do the curls on fresh washed hair for a very long lasting Marilyn Monroe look.

step 3

use heat protection spray and start to heat the curling irons. I used the VALERA curling irons and they worked really great. You can adjust the heat from 130 to 190 °C and they have a nice clip to really hold a tight curl. and thats exactly what we want for this look.

step 4

section your hair in tiny parts all around the head and start at the lower back of the head. start with the smaller curling iron and start to curl the hair towards the head. after you have curled two sections you grap a clip and clip the curl to the head – like this the curl can cool in a very soft way and this will help the curls to last a lot longer. so alternate the curling irons and switch between the smaller and medium one. always curl towards the head and never outwards. leave out the bang parts.

step 5

now we will curl the bang section and also here we curl towards the face and we use the bigger curling iron for doing that. also here we clip the curl to the head and let everything cool.

step 6

spray a light hairspray over the clipped curls and let it all set and cool.

step 7

remove all the clips and take a nice brush and start brushing the curls out – dont use too much force so lightly brush thru your curls and always make sure to brush the ends inwards.

step 8

Marilyn Monroe didnt have a split she styled her hair in a very nice and voluminous way – I tried to achieve this but it made me look like a mix between a puddle and afro – not kidding again. so I figured why not transforming this style a bit towards my looks and therefore I styled a split on the left and brushed the hair around it.

step 9

in case you have longer hair than Marilyn did than you need some bobby pins to tuck your curls in – like I had to do it too. this gives a fuller look and also the curls will last a lot longer as there is no weight pulling them down – hello gravity!

step 10

use another spritz of hairspray in order to seal the complete look. now it is time for the styling. I choose a nice elegant dress with a fakefur coat, some sparkly earrings that look like real diamonds and black heels. for the makeUp we need a pair of fake eyelashes, a black eyeliner and red lipstick – voila – thats it!

makeUp tricks
so Marilyn Monroe had a very dramatic winged eyeliner with a nice winged lower lash line too. she had a sheer silver eyeshadow all over her lid and used a rather dark color to cut the crease. this gives the impressions of more hidden but also more lustre eyes. I already have a beauty mark on my cheek so I just darkened this one – in case you dont have one just easily fake one.

so that is really it – I hope you liked it and I would be super happy to see your Marilyn Monroe looks – please share them with me! x

it must be MONDAY!

as yesterday was sunday 🙂 let’s start a new week and hopefully I can show you many nice things. I had a tiny outfit shooting on saturday but it started to snow heavily and you can really see that in the photos. now I am trying to select the best and upload them ASAP. but first I wanna answer some questions!

#how many lipsticks do I own?

phew – tough call, hmm, I must guess as I don’t know it by heart. maybe around 50 lipsticks. for the ones who think I am crazy please don’t judge. You don’t know me and when I tell you that in Switzerland two drinks at a bar make one new maccosmetics lipstick you maybe wouldn’t believe me. I don’t drink alcoholic beverages and that’s a way to save lots of money!! 🙂

#my favorite accessories?

It must be shoes – I looooove shoes in all varieties – heels and flats – sandals and sneakers – boots and clogs! I will always find a way to wear a pair of fancy shoes.

#what phone do I use?

well since very short time I am using a new phone and ditched my old iPhone S4 for this lovely SONY Xperia phone with an awesome camera. that is super important for my everyday life as a blogger. I also got the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha but it is too light for me and I always feel like I am dropping it.

did you see my new hat? it’s by RISA a swiss hat manufacturer that I have visited before christmas together with heidi.com I got the chance to see how they make hats and am now a proud owner of my own RISA hat – yay! there will be an outfit post where I am wearing this cool navy wool hat. stay tuned!

so – I wish you an awesome monday and don’t forget to browse through my archive and see something nice!

FacebooktwittermailFacebooktwittermail

PARIS STREET STYLE a guide to effortless chic

one of my favorite books regarding fashion and style is the one above in the photo. and it shows many nice key pieces for the perfect style. this very morning I was browsing thru this book and it made me think about these pieces: my beloved VALENTINO sandals – the lovely rose lipstick by ESTÉE LAUDER – the sweet scent LOVESTORY by CHLOÉ and golden hoops.

now I wanna answer some fashion questions:
#1 what are key pieces?
these are clothes that can be worn in many different ways and always remain timeless. a good navy or black blazer – a nice white blouse – a skinny jeans – black or brown chelsea boots – a beige trench coat – white sneakers – black flats etc.

#2 are there any no-go in fashion?
hmm, thats a tough question as for me almost everything goes and hardly anything is impossible. personally I dont like to mix black and brown and navy and black – but thats just me 🙂 but on the other hand I love to mix and match with colors and patterns. back in the days it was also not so cool to mix red and pink but thats also something that works perfectly for me. another thing I wanna share is that when I am wearing a short skirt I am always wearing a rather simple top with it and when I wear a nice cleavage shirt I try not to wear it with shorts but with a nice pants instead.

#3 whats my go-to look for a business day?
atm this would be a pencil skirt with a cashmere sweater, ankle boots and an oversized coat. in case you need inspiration check my outfits from 2011 2012 2013 and 2014 or check my polyvore page.
